Bad Boss? What to do?

Posted on | May 27, 2013 | No Comments

How many of us have had a bad boss?

I suspect the big issue is not good versus bad but how things are communicated.

And when we get into communication the real issue becomes how conflict is being worked through.

It is at this point that all breaks down.

Conflict in the workplace is common and a well communicated strategy to deal with said conflict often does not exist.

The end result of poor communication and conflict int he workplace is a disgruntled staff.

Bring in the bad boss as the scapegoat.

What did the Nightline family have to say about the old bad boss, well here are some of the SMS messages and a couple of the callers.

  • SMS Do a better job than them and take their position
  • SMS I have that issue, my manager acts kind to me and says he wants to make me the best, and then gives all ¬†tasks to his fev employees who are from his country. 2 years there and not much of experience . I went to him complaining about the lack of tasks and then to hr, nothing happened… Will go to a new job when i find it.
  • SMS Be a good listener, act competent and professional. Na’im
  • SMS Just focus on doing your job to the best of your ability and dont waste your time stressing about what your boss says or does
  • SMS I had a boss who hired me for marketing but kept me inside the office demoralizing me for a whole year. Didn’t let me move maybe he felt insecure.¬†
  • SMS I had a sales manager and I was one of 3 new sales people. The manager wanted to keep all the sales for himself and used to send us on wild goose chasesto prospects who he knew didnt want our products or to prospects that had already been to and couldnt sell to. He won , the company sacked all three of us
  • SMS No one has the right to be disrespectful toward you. A manager can be tough and demanding to drive you to do your best but when that fine line between running a tight ship and being oppressive/bullying is crossed, explain that is out of line and if that is not adhered to there are plenty of other jobs with managers who have outstanding interpersonal skills.
I loved the conversation with Dr. Noor, you never know what insight you might get from her experiences.

And then there was this caller she also had a great story and the boss got his in the end!
