Women? Expectations out of Sync?

Posted on | December 10, 2012 | No Comments

So I sat down in the DubaiEye Studio and asked the very simple question, “are women being held to unreasonable expectations in today’s global society?”

I started the conversation looking at the road many women are walking in the industrialized 1st world.

We have the mother, the wife, the CEO, the care giver, the chef the cleaner and oh yea the object of beauty.

And men?

One person told me that women can do it all because they multitask, what?

Because a woman can do a couple of tasks at the same time she needs to have these things added to her repertoire of ability?

I was surprised at the number of women who jumped in to suggest that all is ok as it is.

One male caller suggested it all comes down to anthropology.

When I added the beauty myth to the equation there was not a single taker, well woman suggested she herself was guilty of trying to live up to expectations that were socially manufactured.

So are we living in an era where women are subject to unreasonable expectations?

You be the judge here is the conversation.
