Why Organize a TEDxDubai?

TEDxDubai is an independently organized TED event if you are wondering.

A friend asked my, “why are Giorgio Ungania, you and a small band of merry friends putting together TEDxDubai?”

That was a great question because it made me actually think about why I am involved in putting together a 1000 person TEDxDubai!

It is not for money.

It is not for fame.

It is not because I have nothing else to do. www.zu.ac.ae,DubaiEye,Nightline

The reason I am co-curating TEDxDubai is because this is what the community, even nation, needs to bring the ideas of expats and emiraties together NOW for productive change IMMEDIATLY!

Economic change, social change, community change, maybe even change to the political process!

TED is about ideas to change the world and I believe that there are more than enough world changing ideas in Dubai now that simply need a tribe to follow and mobilize them.

How do we mobilize a tribe of people to put their ideas on the wall for people to grab hold of?

TEDxDubai!

We had a gathering at THE SHELTER on Thursday to allow anyone who was interested to hear why Giorgio and I are pushing so hard to make this TEDx the best in the world!

What I saw among the 50+ people that showed up was a group of people who did not ask why but HOW CAN WE HELP!

Amazing!

Today Giorgio, Natasha, Pervaiz and myself were looking at the speaker line-up and what we saw were exactly the ingredients that make TED the success it is.

Giorgio and I are doing our part to engineer an even that will be emotional, entertaining, inspirational, frustrating, exciting, educational and in the end empowering.

But Giorgio and I are really only responsible for 1/2 of your TEDxDubai experience, the other 50% of the day is all up to you, those coming!

The more you put into October 10, TEDxDubai, the more you will get out of it!

Giorgio and I are co-curating TEDxDubai because it has to be done!

That is it, plain and simple, Giorgio and I decided in a moment of blurred morning excitement that we had to bring a TEDx event to Dubai because it had to be done.
