Take the compliment and use it!

Last night on Nightline, the program I host on DubaiEye 103.8 FM, we spoke about nuclear energy in the UAE.
The conversation was a lot of fun.
After the interview with Dr. David H. Johnson and Dr. Mehdi Sarram, as I was packing up, Dr. Sarram said that he was impressed with my ability to relax him and Dr. Johnson and keep the interview flowing.
I said thank you and we went our own ways.
The question is how well do you take a compliment?
And when you get that compliment what do you do with it? Beyond the ever needed ego pat?
I think one of our greatest failures in life is that we are suspect of compliments and when we ge them we DO NOT use them as an immediate resource against which to evaluate our performance!
I think we need to look at a situation we have been complimented on and ask what have I done differently to provoke a response?
I also think we need to use those complemented moments as NEW benchmarks against which to measure our next performance, which might be in an hour, a day or a year.
Compliments are an amazing resource that we all too often fail to capitalize upon.
