Make Education Worth the Time

The Challenge!

Posted on | March 5, 2009 | 2 Comments

I want to educate the world!

In fact I want to make the world better by improving the way we communicate to each other!

Step one is to post all my lectures from Zayed University online!

If you go to EssentialEd you can listen to the first 2 installments of 3 classes!

I hope to provoke other professors from around the world to do the same, post their lectures!

Step 2 is to get people like you to actually download the lectures, listen and then interact, do some activities and activate the learning process.

The Public Speaking class sis the easiest to see this happening with because the assignments are speeches.

So you listen, follow along, and then record your speech and send it to me and share it with others.

Step 3 would be deciding whether or not you have met the requirements and sending you an certificate to prove that you did satisfy my requirements as laid out for that particular class!

The ultimate professional development really!

But what I really want, and have not figured this part out yet, is to ask those who do this for a dollar!

And the dollar would be used to start putting together post secondary education programs for the bottom 1 billion people int he world!

I want to start the project in Kenya or maybe India in a slum or a collection of rural villages and teach students about entreneurship and sustainable tourism.

So the dollar would help fund the venture.

You get something and in return you help educate someone else!

Simple!

Ok I could be overwhelmed! Or not.

But I am tossing it out there what do you think?

Some real good thinking there James. Definitely, our support for you. We are moving towards democratic public participation. one man alone cannot lead, but a collection of thoughts can deliver unimaginable ideas. I think any solution can come real from this method and resolve our issues around.

The only thing I would say is… a text based forum might work better with maybe a voice feature. Given the time and lifestyle, if anyone wanting to participate would probably text. But a voice feature is always an added advantage for those who are good at presentation.

    Thanks for the thumbs up.

    How do we start?

Happy to lay the building blocks to create “the network”
