Got a KNOL?

Posted on | December 20, 2008 | 1 Comment

Google has come up with an alternative to WIKIPEDIA called a KNOL.

Have you got one?

I have created my own KNOL to give it a try.

Is it useful? I am not sure, check out the homepage.

From my perspective it creates a great place to publish those conference papers and thought pieces that might otherwise never see the light of day.

A good example is my doctoral dissertation.  The paper weight was never published, I have not re-worked it yet, but it might be of interest to someone and via a KNOL it is online!

What makes the KNOL idea alluring is that maybe it creates a way to bridge between 1st and 3rd party content on the net.

For now the KNOL idea is still a BETA test.

Give it a look and let me know what you think!

It is good service from Google. Google services are considered relatively highly competitive. This site to the basics has a blogging feature wich encourages people to write. Other nnoticeable great features are the article material contributers, the article rating, page views, the reviews, other articles from the createor, and similar articles on knol! And all that is organized on one column to the right.

Creating a knol is easier and user-friendl(ier) than in wikipedia.

Yes, It is a good service.
