Auto Bail Out USA.

Here are some of the words we hope come out of the American business machine!
INNOVATION, CREATIVITY, ADAPTIVITY, CLARITY,FOCUS, LEADERSHIP, FORWARD, OUT-OF-THE-BOX and THINKING.
You know what? I am not sure that any of these words apply to the American Automotive industry.
The Washington Post has a nice re-cap of where the auto bail-out plan is today.
I would expect the Big Three to be doing some amazingly innovative thinking at point of the show, the fat lady is singing!
Clearly many American law makers are as surprised at the lack of thinking going on in the auto industry in the US.
Yesterday, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), issued a statement saying he is “disappointed in the plan that is being developed between the House Democrats and the White House” because it would not force the automakers and the United Auto Workers union to make painful and immediate concessions to restore profitability.
But what surprises me even more is that the auto makers would continue to be arrogant and think they can think like yesterday into tomorrow!
…In addition to pressing to replenish the loan program, Democrats are pushing for a provision that would bar the automakers from continuing their lawsuits against states that have adopted low greenhouse-gas emissions standards to promote the development of cleaner cars. Environmentalists and several states’ attorneys general have asked Congress to uphold these stringent standards in any auto bailout legislation…
Look at what is going on int he tech industries right now!
It is time the automotive industry started thinking like there might not be a tomorrow because the reality is staring them in the face, you cannot do things like you did!
And I really do not believe that is easier to say than do.
If the US auto executives went and hung out at any average high school they would not only see where there thinking needs to go but they might find a few fresh faces to help them dream a little more realistically!
