Let us mess with technology!

Have you seen this?

There is a lot of concern about what kids are doing online!

An interesting take on things from DIGITAL YOUTH RESEARCH.

The conclusions are sane, compassionate, and compelling: in a nutshell, the “serious” stuff we all hope kids will do online (researching papers and so on) are only possible within a framework of “hanging out, messing around and geeking out.” That is to say, all the “time-wasting” social stuff kids do online are key to their explorations and education online.

Want to get a closer look at the results?

I think these researchers have hit the nail on the head when they say,

“Today’s youth may be coming of age and struggling for autonomy and identity as did their predecessors, but they are doing so amid new worlds for communication, friendship, play, and self-expression.”

Time we made sure every child had the tools to use, interact and think about their digital identity and world.
